Overview

Inter Bhawan Tech Meet is an annual competition in IIT Roorkee held by Student Technical Council. This year it happened from 14-16th April. Hostels are known as Bhawans in IIT Roorkee, so basically different hostels participate in teams of 5, and the best bhawan wins. I participated in Farmicon Brand Design Challenge.

Why I participated?

There were multiple reasons for it, one being I will get an opportunity to network with the best designers of our campus through this competition.

Secondly, I liked the problem statement and it seemed interesting to work on.

And thirdly, I thought if I win, it would be a good achievement to add to my resume😅

How it went?

So, it wasn't very straightforward as I thought would be, since the timeline was really short and there were lot of things to do. Effective prioritisation and time management was needed apart from team work and design skills. We had to stretch our limits, work late at nights for long hours. I remember staying up till 6 am for completing the work. And the next day, I ended up having the most painful headache of my life.

Branding, Design System, Web Design and App Design were few areas to work on. I lead the website design and the best part is Farmicon has already started building our winning concept. Design System and Branding were mostly done by brainstorming and discussions.

Apart from this, we also submitted Brand Sprint documentation

This was basis of thinking of the above deck we created.

Presentation Round

It went smooth initially. Then we were asked a few questions on the decisions we took, the thinking behind the designs. But since, we created it with clear approach, we passed this round successfully.

Conclusion

Overall it was fun to be a part of such a college event and interact with the people. When our name announced and we were called on the stage to receive the medals is one of those moments where I felt great satisfaction and joyfulness. It wasn't easy at all. But we completed it. Look forward to participate in more of such events and learn more. At last, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my teammates without whom it would have been impossible.
